HELP magic smoke escapes

This evening the smoke escaped from the wiring harness in my CGT. What
makes this bad is it's my daily driver. I've got a partial harness that
came with the car, it's only mildy mutilated so it might work. Does anybody
have a good used one they would part with? Does anybody now of a source for
a "reasonably" priced new main harness? It could be plastic wrapped,
instead of fabric as original.

Is there any sure fire way to track the problem that caused the problem down?
