I am in 90 percent agreement - certainly it is impossible NOT to get $200
worth of value out of a parts car - just look at the price of a crappy
aftermarket turn-signal switch or a pair of leaf springs or, God forbid -
a speedometer! however, there are a lot of parts that just never wear out
and end up being dust collectors - for example, seat frames+ rails,
battery covers, rear end hub backing plates, timing chain covers - things
like that which one naturally saves but is unlikely to ever need or be
able to "hand off" to anyone else! - certainly if you get rid of these
they will be the very first part to fail but if space is limited it pays
to give a bit of thought to what is worth the effort and what is not -
this is very much given from the heart since i CANNOT throw anything away
and have literally dozens of items, fully cleaned and refinished that
will likely stay exactly where they are until i either expire or decide
to build an ENTIRE car out of the "bits in the boxes".
Another benefit to the exercise is that it doesnt matter how long you've
been looking at these cars, every time you take one apart you will get a
few "Ahhh - thats how that works...." moments as you finally fathom some
constructive anomaly that had previously evaded you.
Enjoy it! - and if the nice little aluminium ring around the grille
interior is intact - MAIL IT TO ME - hehe
