I have been resisting the effort to flame Bob Allen about his ignorance
of the Car he owns, but will resist.

Don't laugh at MGC prices. The parts are hard to get. Many are no longer
available, and even substitutes are expensive.

A friend was happy to buy a perfect example for $13,000. It came with an
auto transmission, and a spare overdrive for when he got tired of auto.
Every part was in the car, including a number of parts that are no
longer available, and most of us have leaned to do without. It is a
mystery to me how the restorers can find the parts and then get old
parts to look just like they just came from the bake oven. The owner had
put over $22,000 in the restoration, but figures that any hobby will
cost something.

The car Bob Allen saw advertised was probable not worth the money unless
it had that perfect restoration, but with parts hard to find, and the
low volume of sales for a part, they are expensive. A heater water valve
for a B is about $40., for a C $70.+. I need one and located it in
England at 43BPS plus a lot of shipping. I had called four places before
I found it. The person I talked to said that he figured less than 10
were sold in a year world wide. That is why they are expensive when
found.
