Wiz,
Well Wiz, us PA boys have to look out for each other, even if one of
them
owns a Mini. 8-) I had this problem in various forms over the past four years
since
I've been driving (My gosh, it's been that long?!?) And two different things
have
been the culprits. The first time, my '86 Plym*uth had the timing so far
advanced
that it wouldn't start once the car was hot. Lots of fun when you stall the
car in a
McDonalds drive-thru. 8-0 Kicked back the timing a touch and the car was
fine.
The second time, it was on my MGB this summer. However, the spade
connector
was very loose, so loose that the wire would work it's way off the starter and
hang
loose! That was fixed by crimping the connector solidly to the starter, then
using
heat-shrink tubing to cover the connection. I guess you could have a flat spot
also,
but I'm not sure how to diagnose one of those suckers. Hope this helped a
little!
