CALLING ALL WIZARDS...
Got the harness all installed on the 76 MGB (oct 75 birthday), dropped in the
battery out of my ford and YES signs of life....The windshield wipers started
sweeping to and fro ( keep in mind this is my first lbc and first project car
in almost 30 years!)
So I take a long deep breath, close my eyes, and ever so slowly turn the
key...
NOTHING!!!!!
Just the single soft click of the solinoid relay. Checked the connections on
the relay (it's one of those new round plastic ones) and on the solinoid
itself. Speeking of which, one of the spade connectors was snapped off but I
was able to make a fix for it. The two wire ends with spade connections were
different sizes, the solinoid was not marked so I connected the the wire that
fit the post that was there and plugged the smaller one to the post I made.
Sorry, I didn't check wire colors for your referance.
So that I know that I've wired the solinoid correctly, can anyone tell me how
to tell if I've done this correctly, AND is there something else I should be
checking.. can I bypass the relay for testing the solinoid ..used to use a
screwdriver to run a short to turn over the old American made stuff back in
the 60's.
One other note, had a visit today from a Robert Franzen, he was passing
through to the west side of Michigan from a show in New York he said. He was
driving a BEAUTIFUL 72 MGB-GT. The first LBC show car I've seen up close. Got
me inspired to finish my work today even though the temp index was 105 .
Thanks for any input any of you may share on getting this auto running for
the first time since 1986.
