I would have preferred Bob Allen's suggestion of a Pirelli, certainly one
of the best tyres. But I was able to obtain a Michelin based tire for $50
each instead of $70+ for the Pirellis.
The 175/70R14 profile is still close to the 165. The tire store assured me
they are a common tire, used on Ford Escorts and other mass produced
vehicles.
