Stoddard solvent is also known as mineral spirits. It has a low flash
point and can be used as a relatively safe parts cleaner. You can find
it in the paint section of any dept. store such as WalMart, Kmart, HQ,
Lowe's, etc. It is combustible and can have a noticable odor. There are
citrus based cleaner/solvents on the market that work well. I have no
info on the names of those. I've used a product called Simple Green
before and have gotten good results on oily parts. Don't know how good
it would be in a parts washer.
