Hi there,

Go out and make sure the distributor is secure and cannot be turned by
hand.

The last tune-up, I did not tighten the distributor enough (the manual
warns against over-tightening) and it had come loose.  It was firing at T=
DC
instead of 12BTDC.  It idled just fine but was a pig on the road.  The
abuse these poor cars get at the hands of their owners!
