Fellow Listers...
When I purchased my 58 MGA, it had a early 5 main B engine that was
froze up. I found a 1500 short block and had it rebuilt. The 5 main B
engine had a MGB pressure plate. I elected to use a MGB pressure plate in
the rebuild, so I had to get a 3 Main MGB flywheel, which I did. I used the
throughout bearing pivot arm that was in the car when I bought it.
I attached the transmission this week, rebuilt the clutch slave cylinder
and put the engine back in the car this morning. I failed to check if the
travel of the slave cylinder was sufficient to engage the clutch until I had
installed the engine in the car and as one might expect, I found out that the
travel of the slave cylinder was not sufficient to engage the clutch. I do
not know why I have this problem. I am assuming that I will need to get an
MGB throughout bearing pivot arm. Although, I had assumed that the
throughout bearing pivot arm was an MGB, since I had an MGB pressure palte in
the car when I bought it. Would an MGA thoughout bearing pivot arm work on
the back of a 5 main MGB engine with an MBG pressure plate and not on the
back of an MGA motor with a MGB pressure plate and 3 main flywheel?
Can anyone shed any light on my problem?
Thanks...
