I thought long and hard about the 5 speed conversion.
I finally choose against it. I'm not sure if it was
a money issue or a not all brit parts issue in the car
that was stopping me.

I'm not aware of what the most popular tranny is choosen
by autoX'ers, if the gear ratio is prefered and all that.
Thats where I'm trying to take my car and keep it street legal.

Anyway, the total cost of a Datsun 5 speed conversion: The
purchase of the transmission, the expense of a rebuild,
the conversion kit, and after it was all said and done with
was going to cost me @ $1,200.00.

I just got a '69 Sprite 4 speed tranny with 40K miles on it
shipped and all for $180.00. I has the preferred gears and all
that. I was going to order new seal and gaskets and I have
the gallon of Redline MTL ready to pump in. Lets just say for round
numbers $200.00 total cost.

$1,200.00 vs. $200.00 I went for the $200 solution, I don't think
that the 5 speed was really worth it, maybe someone could convince
me otherwise. Although to late now.

As far as gear ratios are concerned and whats prefered, I am bolting on my
4.22 final drive differential. That should make it a bit more competative.
