> Hi Bob..

One of the best things for you to do is join MGs of Baltimore. We
generally host 4 car rallies a year throughout the Maryland area but
most of them start, end or are directly in the Baltimore backroads area.
North of town, west -- you will be amazed at the gorgeous scenic routes
our rally masters can find in our "urban/suburban" areas. Of course
these rallies are open to all MG owners, all Classic or Brit car owners
and any classic car that qualifies for an antique car license in the
State of Maryland. Contemporary cars are not included.

Some of these rallies include a "test" which is similar to a
mini-gymkhana as part of the fun. We usually start at a park & ride or
some convenient location to assemble everyone, then finish at a winery,
festival or some other neat location where we can enjoy a lunch or
dinner. It is fun competition, on a road course that even a novice or
beginner rallyer can complete. These are generally Time/Speed/Distance
rallies, meaning the person with the closest time to the legal speed
limit over the course of the ralley is the winner. Classes are divided
by decade of cars. We have had MGs (obviously), TRs, Volvos, Saabs,
jags, and lots of other cars represented.

The next rallye is on June 6 and is a challenge rallye sponsored by the
Lanco MG club since they won our challenge rallye last year. So this
one will be in lower PA just above the Balto/Harford Co lines. There
are 2 more scheduled for 1997 season.

Next year MGOB will host the 1998 MGB National Convention. I keep
trying to resign as registrar for it because we will have so many
driving events, I want to play instead of work - but they won't let me
quit.

If you have a fax # E-mail it to me so I can fax a ralley entry to you.
Or send me your address so I can mail same.
