TF fuel level sending unit leak

I asked a question in British Remarques chat tonight about a sure cure for
fuel level sender leak. I was told it had been discussed on this list a while
back. Sorry to reopen old wounds, but what was the verdict?

I have replaced the gasket twice, and the complete unit once. Still leaks.
Present is soft and swollen. I have tried Permatex (2B I think) and hylomar
sealants.

Thanks for any help. My wife is becoming impatient!
