Kai,
I'm afraid most of the United States and the legislature are also
prejudiced against you... It varies from state to state, but for
most, you cannot enter into a binding contract until you are legally
an adult, age 18. Also, most companies want a bond or some assets that
they will be able to attach in case you don't fulfill your contract.
And defaulting on contracts happens all the time and it isn't necessarily
anyone's fault. You PC could be destroyed in a fire, along with your
backups, you could be injured, you could have merely mis-estimated the
time and cost involved.
So don't feel bad, you'll have to go through life proving yourself again
and again, and the competition is tough, as you know. Starting the
negotiation with a strike against you, however unreasonable, only makes
it tougher!
Keep it up, don't lose faith, when the world spits in your eye, go
work on your MG!
