First, are you sure the rear is sitting too high? Check the height against
severl other Midgets. I have two here, a 73 (son's) and a 74 (mine). The 73
is 24.5 inches from the ground to the fender well on a line through the
wheel center. The 74 is 24.75 inches. Both have relativly new springs on the
rear.
Secondly, the replacement of bushings has probabley taken a lot of "slop"
out of the rear end and now the car rides closer to it's normal height.
Third. It is very possible that nothing more than friction between spring
leaves, due to lack of lubricant while sitting, is holding the rear up high.
Try bouncing the car several times to see if it doesn't sit down a bit.
OH, the 73 was not the last of the chrome bumper cars. That was 74. All 74
midgets were chrome bumpers. The Rubber bumper came about with the 75 model
year.
