Electric fuel pumps work best closest to the tank. They push fuel much
better than pull it. It sounds to me like you may have another problem
though. If you have a history of, apparent, fuel pump problems then it
maybe a restriction on the supply to the pump and not the pump at all.
Another common mistake made is using non-vented gas caps when vented
ones are needed(pre 1970). This creates a vacuum in the tank. I have
seen tanks colapes from this. You would know if you get a lot of
sucking noise when gasing up after driving a little. Just trying to
