Serves me right for letting my work intrude upon my entertainment!!

When I'm doing a pump alignment, I use dial indicators to show the
degree of misalignment of the pump and motor flanges. The motor base
has four adjusting screws used to align the motor with the pump.

I've found it saves a lot of guesswork to know that if the adjuster
is 3/8 nc, this means that it has a pitch of 16 threads per inch.
One inch of travel takes 16 turns, or (16 x 6) 96 flats.
One flat produces 1/96 of an inch, giving me 0.0104" movement (app.).

If I need 0.005", I turn 1/2 flat; 0.015", I turn 1 1/2 flats, etc.

As I type, my son is trying to figure out the wiring he cut when he
pulled the engine/od tranny from the '74 donor for the '71 GT (sans od)

Our manual shows a switch on the dash, while the '74 had the much more
convenient wiper/od switch combo. The '71 doesn't seem to have anything
other than what looks like a seat belt buzzer/tranny serial connection.

I guess I'll have to go out and crawl under the thing to interpret the
wiring diagrams with reality.
