Well, it's time to bend over for the AQMD, so I detuned Tintin this
weekend. It was interesting to note that as soon as I regapped the
plugs to .035, there was a definite change in the exhaust note. I set
the timing back to 5 BTDC and the carbs to five flats into the blue.
I also found it interesting that the engine accelerated as I moved out
of the optimal white colortune. I also left out the air filters, but
I still experienced an increase in idle speed when I put the filter
canisters back on. I left the idle at about 1100rpm.
What's odd is that I really didn't notice much loss of performance,
although I certainly wouldn't drive around like that for fear of burning
the valves. I did notice that the annoying puff of blue smoke I was
getting on starting from a light after downshifting into it had gone
away.
Wish me luck with the rectal sniffer.
By the way, I seem to have misplaced set of CH gauges. If anyone would
be so kind as to send me a new set? Original packaging is preferred, but
that may increase the postage too much.
