RE: The Canoes & Trailers Thread

I has purusing the "MG Owners' Accessories catalog and they list a
trailer hitch for B/C/GTs.

You order a "tow bar kit" and an "installation kit" for the whole setup.

The tow bar kit looks like 3 long retangular bars that box in the back
of the car and the installation kit is the ball and mounting plate along
with a wiring plug and flasher.

They have a small picture of the thing installed and, from above, it
looks like the thing pokes behind the bumper a few inches and probably
obscures the plate a little bit.

They have separate part numbers for chrome vs rubber bumper cars:

Part# F001 Tow bar, chrome bumper -- 41.57#
Part# F005 Tow bar, rubber bumber -- 44.95#
Part# F020 Installation kit, chrome -- 16.85#
Part# F025 Installation kit, rubber -- 16.85#

For a chrome bumper car, that comes to about $80 once you take off the
VAT and figure a 1.65 exchange rate. The bad news is that 5 day air mail
would cost about $140 to get it over to the colonies. Drat. I suppose it
can come by boat if you're patient and cheap.

Has anyone in the states ordered from this outfit? I'm wondering what
the normal delivery times are and if they are happy with what comes out
of 0the box.

They catalog had a flyer from Ruth Close who said she was the "Export
Cooridnator" and gave a number as 00 44 1954 231318 and a fax as 231073.
They list their hours as 9 to 5:30 MF and 10 to 1 on Saturday. Your time
may vary.

They've got a complete stainless header/exhaust system for the 'C'
model. US price appears to be $730 plus shipping for the "Le Mans"
system (#B064). I think I'll go buy a stack of lottery tickets and see
if I get lucky.
