I totally agree that the engine must be running to properly
break it in. But this brought back a interesting memory on a motorcycle
engine I rebuilt about 10 years ago.
It was a '65 Honda CA95 engine that, after I rebuilt it,
only had about 25 psi compression, and really
had a hard time starting because of it. I ended up having to turn the
engine over with a electric drill, for about five minutes, to break the
engine in enough to have compression enough to start well.
