There is a new alternator conversion being built and marketed by a
restoration shop near where I live. It is currently advertised in the
March/April issue of the MGB Driver, publication of the North American
MGB Register. The advertisement shows one mounted on an MGB engine; it
looks real clean. It was designed for the "B" series engine (MGA,MGB),
but apparently can be adapted fairly easily for the "A" series which
your Sprite would have. It uses a rebuilt Delco 62 Amp alternator which
is very common. I'm not sure if the regulator is external or internal.
Some machining is done by them to the one existing ear and another is
welded on. For an MGB with an existing alternator they claim a 20 minute
installation. Generator equipped cars would take longer, but still not
too big a deal. Price is $129.95. The source is Merryman Modifications,

a call or write to them; they will be very familiar with the set-up on
your car and will know what to do to make it work and won't jerk you
