hello all,
just a quick note to say hello and that i am back in the game. the B is in
the garage and boy is it great. Corey thanks again for the great time up in
F-burg and you should really rename the car for "rags" does not truly fit
that car. kind of funny but i looked at "rags" just before you bought her
in 93 i think and you have done a great job bringing her around again. In
may i should be up again, but sorry to say in the VW and not the MG. i have
to bring the family next time and need a little bit more room. thanks again
for dinner and i must say that was the highlight of my trip. it was great
to be able to talk to another mg fanatic and have some really great stories
to share! see you again soon. i'll keep looking for a o/d unit for you
around here.(thank goodness mine worked perfectly for the trip)
yes there was problems. gee condensors are really weird items. the mallory
unit left me stuck 2 times. first at a rest area in VA. thought i was back
in texas watching a rodeo the way the B was jumping and bucking around. hey
no problem, stopped and checked the problem and found the condensor went
bad. ok open the trunk and pull out the old one from the last tune up. back
on the road. nice drive down 81 but guess what i see- a sign that says
"blue ridge parkway" ok so a year and a half of no mg got the best of me.
hit the exit and got on the parkway as fast as i could. top down and
cruising all day till north carolina. yes that is what a mg is all about.
well about 10pm and time to get off of the parkway as fast as possible. too
much ice. so what do i do? well this little road on the map SHOULD take me
to 81 into knoxville. i guess murphy was sitting under the tonneau for i
really got lost. turned out to be fun though. a kid in a japanese car ( i
think a mitsubishi) liked to ride the bumper of the B so i just opened her
up. saw him again after i stopped for coffee and all he said was what kind
of car is that? told him that this is where a brit belongs- running a
mountain road!!
well after that all is well till jackson,tn. second condensor no good 2
miles from town. walked back and some really great guys at the local parts
place crossed an allison condensor to what i needed. car running again and
a wheel balance since it really needed it after sitting so long and i am
off. got about 50 miles past memphis and here comes the weather that
flooded texas. had to pull her under a overpass to wait out the storm after
she almost started floating. rain most of the way after that but not bad as
it had been. no other problems from there on out.
oh well she's home now. sorry for the long story. just excited about having
her home again!! hope to take her to some texas events as well as the ones
here in OK.

BTW yes there are LBC's here in altus, ok. seen 5 B's and a tr6 here as the
weather has gotten warmer
ps here is a point to ponder. with all my travels with the B though the
states and japan, there has comment that always seems to strike up a
conversation. "gee i had one of those in college (or when i was in the
military, etc.). wish i had never of gotten rid of the car" heard that too
many times in both langauges. so many people with that look in their eyes
as if they were driving their car all over again. remember that if you ever
must sell your lbc.
