If the push rod from the brake pedal to the piston in the M/C is too
long, the relief port inside remains "blocked" and the fluid cannot
return to the reservoir after you release the pedal. This causes the
symptom you describe. If, by pushing down the pedal slightly by hand you
cannot feel a slight "click" when the pushrod touches the piston, the
pushrod must be shortened by adjusting it near the clevis in front of
the M/C. One other possibility is that, due to wrong fluid, the cup
inside has swollen and is thus blocking that port. That is pretty rare
while the misadjustment is quite common, especially after a rebuild.
