For long trips I take the trailer, then I try to hold it down to 70-75
MPH, even on the smoothest roads, but it depends a lot on the local
traffic flow.

Ditto here. Long distance cruising at moderate speed is a fairly low
stress thing for a LBC. If you make the first 500 miles without
incident, you're probably alright for the next 10,000.
