In response to Bruce Phillips' question re: the spot welder attachment
from Eastwood and the mini welder, I would suggest that you put your
money in a MIG welder instead. I tried that accessory and didn't have
much luck with it. If any one is interested, I'd sell it to the first
person with a $20 bill.

If you are just getting into welding, a MIG unit is the way to go. I
bought one for about $300 from J.C.Whitney and it works great on thin
metal like fenders and rocker panels. Spot welds can be made by drilling
a small hole in the panel, fitting it and then filling in the hole. I
have never had any training in welding but have been able to use this
unit after a little practice.

I have tried gas welding and have found it takes a lot of skill to do it
without warping the metal. Needless to say, I wasn't very successful
with it. Good Luck!
