In recent times, the "safety" aspect of Volvos is really
just the PR campaign.
In those consumer reports rags where crash data is assembled
and sorted, many Volvos are simply awful at crash protection.
Perhaps in the 60s their safety level was a real factor,
but since then it's just been excellent marketing.
At any rate, being that it was less than a decade since
I was 16, I agree with whoever it was that said get a large
six seater instead of a nice LBC.
When it comes down to it, she'd probably get a lot more
enjoyment out of being able to carry five carless friends
around everywhere than the enjoyment of having people
admire her car, then have to follow her home so she could
drop it off and get in their six seater.
Remember the opinion of cars at the age of 16 is along
the same lines as the opinion of sex. Everybody can watch
TV and see what the dream material is, but in practical
terms having any at all is just overwhelmingly exciting.
