I believe you'll find that the headliner 'board' slides out through the
back, which neccessitates removing the hatch. Natch, (sort of poetry there)
all of the 'quarter-round' pieces of the roof upholstery have to come off,
but you should be able to just slide that puppy to the rear and outta there!
Now, I must admit that I have not removed a headliner per se, but have spoke
to friends w/GTs who have, and this is how they reported the removal.
