I made my own pedal extensions on my Midget a few years ago and has
worked well for me.
I like driving in the arms out position but being only 5'6" tall, I would
find that the steering wheel on the Midget was buried in my chest if I
wanted to operate the pedals.
I removed the pedals from the car, then cut the actual pedal from the
pedal arm. Welded a 1"
extension to bring the actual pedal closer the me. I used 3'16" steel and
doubled it up on both sides to prevent en flexing of the pedals.
I have considered doing this on the MGB but so far have not seen a need,
however I do not see why it would not be possible

PS - make sure you have complete confidence in you welding abilities,
because you would not want to have the weld break at the most inopportune
moment (like a panic stop)
