I have a
suggestion.  At any big parts store there is a mechanical advance rebuild 
kit
 for late model GM distributors (I got one for my 82 GM pickup - 350eng)
 and the kit includes three different sets of springs with different spring 
rates.
 Maybe one of these will work for you.
