I would be surprised if they were factory, the engine gave so much
trouble that the last few twin-cam bodies were fitted with the
standard engine but different badging. Brian Laban's "MGB The
Complete Story" states that the twin-cams "dreadful" reliability
ruled it out as a possible engine for the 'B, but two or three cars
were tried with V4 engines.
BTW I believe some 60 pre-production MGF's were made, many as driving
test-beds for MGF components, including putting the power and
transmission unit in a Toyota MR2, I think.
