Many moons ago I went thru the knocking wire wheel syndrome. Tried the overtight routine, pins etc. After a while I noticed small hairline cracks appearing in the wheel center sections, plus the center sections were actually starting to balloon. One day my right rear wheel center section split, promptly folding the wheel & tire underneath the car and doing lots of damage to the inner fender with only a slight bulge showing at the body. And too think, if only I had used a little grease... |
