Scott,

The old plugs can be removed with a small chisel and hammer. Sometimes a
large pair of needle nose pliers is also helpful to "roll up" the plug to aid
in the extraction.

Be careful not to hit, nick or otherwise distort the inside surface of
opening. Cut a slit in the center of the plug with a realtively small chisel
or center punch. Be careful to not lose the plug into the block. A magnet
tool is helpful if one gets away from you.

Clean the opening, don't deform it (I've used a brake hone to get the opening
ready for a new plug if it's really nasty).

To install the new one, find a socket that fits into the new plug. Tap it
squarely and gently with a mallet into place. Several light hits are better
than a couple of heavy ones. Stop between hits, remove the socket and make
sure it's going in evenly all the way around. If it gets cocked, it will
leak. Make sure you go to the right depth (measure the old one before you
remove it).

The replacement is really simple once you've done one or two. Take your time
and be careful, you'll do fine.
