Elaine:
I'd check the fluid level in your clutch master cylinder first. It's located
on the driver's side, near the left wing, behind the brake master cylinder
... ie, it's the rearmost reservoir you'll see. If it's low, go ahead and
top it up, but remember: there's a reason it's low. Somewhere along the
line, you've got a leak which will eventually need to be repaired. If you
don't do the work yourself, let a shop know that this seems to be the
problem.
If it's not the fluid level, then it's likely that some critical component of
your clutch has gone bad -- throwout bearing, clutch plate perhaps -- and
will need to be renewed.
If you give us your location, perhaps a list member can suggest a good shop
in your area. There's a lot of collective wisdom here about that.
