OK, I have the Autopress LTD MGA, MGB 1955-68 Autobook in front of me. Author
Kenneth Ball.
For most things this book is not a patch on the Haynes manual...... but it has
seat belt mounting
diagrams.

For the tunnel mountings.

          Floor board rail

The centre of the hole (the O) should be 2 inches from the floor rail and 2.125
inches from the
rear bulkhead at a 2 inch heigth

There is a vertical line of spot welds incdicated by the xxxx's. Use this as
one datumn line,
and the centre of the spot welds securing the the floor to the wheel arch as
the other.
The large X is 2.5" up from the where the welds cross and 0.625" in from the
vertical weld.

On the roadster you are pretty safe so long as you are around that area and you
have a nice big backing
plate. I used two holes. Bolted two bolts on as studs and then used wing nuts
to allow the top belt
mounting to be removable for the hood mounting.

Chassis side rail.
---------------

The proper kit has a weak looking bracket that is attached to the top of the
chassis rail.
In a shear situation (crash) I though this was iffy.

Instead I drilled a hole in the side of the chassis and welded in a steel plate
with a captive
nut for a standard seat belt mounting bolt.
The position of this is not that critical. The diagram shows it a couple of
inches further back than the
tunnel mounting.

What you now have is a coupe belt fitting in a Roadster.
The roadster belt arrangement (fitting to the tonneau) is better if you are
tall and probably
fits better all round but my MG expert advised drilling and welding a plate to
the tonneau for it to be
strong enough.
If you havn't done the paint job yet I would recommend it.
The book says screw the fixings into the tapped plate under the tonneau
panel... whatever that
means. No reference to welding etc.

Hope this helps.
