Montego Blues

My 1989 MG Montego Turbo has been off the road for about 3 months.

Decided to put it back on the road...

Oh dear! After allsorts of silly little problems, I have now got to the stage 
where it will start beautifully if towed to 30 mph first and will run 
fine...till 
the revs drop to below 2000 rpm when it stops....

It refuses point blank to even give a kick when trying to start it with the 
starter...


Anybody any ideas???
