I am afraid that the Haynes manual, for once, is correct. The only way to get the gearbox out is with the engine. It is possible to take just the engine out to replace the clutch, but it is easier to take the two out together. If the gearbox is on its way out consider changing to a Spitfire type overdrive box. A bit of work to get it to fit, but more than worth it. Regards Alan |
