MGB Fuel System

How does the fuel tank breath? When I got this B the (D)PO had removed one
of the clamps on the hose from the filler neck to the tank. I got tired of
sniffing gas fumes and gas in the trunk so I replaced the missing clamp.
Now I'm getting a vacuum type thing going were the hose colapses and the
fuel pump isn't strong enough to get any more fuel to the engine.
