Wheel alignment

What is the best way to do alignment on an 80 B? I hear that you make a 
chalk line in the center of the tire and after rolling the car on level 
ground, compare the distance between the tires in the front otf the tire and 
back. Any comments or suggestions? Where on the tie rod do I make the 
adjustment?
