OK, you asked for it...
Minimum toolkit:
7/16" - 1/2" combination wrench
9/16" - 3/4" combination wrench
13/16" socket and breaker bar (spark plugs and lugnuts on MGB)
Medium sized straight blade screwdriver
Medium sized Posi screwdriver
6' 14 gauge stranded wire
Utility Knife
Electrical Tape or Duct Tape
Insulated grip Pliers
You don't need a test light, you can take out the taillight and use that
(been there, done that).
You don't need jumper cables since you need another car to jump yours.
Either get the other person to 1) provide cables, 2) Push start you, or
3) give you a ride to the garage.
You don't need baling wire or duct tape since the 6' of electrical wire
and the electrical tape will (temporarily) work for either purpose.
You don't need a hammer since there's usually a rock handy and you don't
need a file since the same rock or pavement can be used to polish the
points. You don't even need a jack if you have enough rocks.
etc. etc.
It's nice to have tools though, since you have that big old "Standard
sized Craftsman Toolbox" to fill up.
