Here in the UK a company called Frontline Spridget produce a 5 speed gearbox
conversion (Toyota) for the A-series Midget, I posted info a few weeks back,
but the A series is very different to the 1500 engine. A Spitfore overdrive
unit can be fitted with little more than a little stretching of the tunnel.
I am sure that Dave Brooke will tell you more, if not I'll attack him with
a Dremel Mototool until he does - if I can find one for sale in Halfords :-)
