Hi all,
First, let me introduce myself.
My name is Bert and I live in Holland, Europe.
I am the proud owner of a red 1970 MGB that I have owned for about six years
now.
I drive my MG almost exclusively with the top down, that is why I bought the car
in the first place.
All maintenance and repairs are done by myself.
Most spare parts are easy obtained and relatively cheap.
A few months after I bought the car, I also acquired a second-hand
car lift to this purpose (at only a fraction of the cost of the MG, by the
way).
This is almost a necessity, as it is highly unlikely that you will find a
workshop over here that has AF-size (non-metric) spanners etc.
The other day, I was using the grease gun again to lubricate the king pins.
I suddenly wondered whether it was right what I have been doing all these years.
When applying the grease gun, I had the car resting on its wheels, as usual.
Is this correct? Shouldn't the suspension be free of the normal, static load?
I checked the workshop manual but could not find the answer.
Any more experienced owners around that can fill me in on this?
Greetings
Bert Palte
