Bob doesn't live in Colorado anymore. The places you mentioned tend
to specialize in modern rally computers. The old Haldas and Curtas
have become collectors items, fetching up to $1000. I do have some
leads on these, but am a little reluctant to give out all my sources
until the Magnette if fully vintage rally equipped.
There is a mailing list for RALLYE: <RALLY-L@GUVM.CCF.GEORGETOWN.EDU>
You subscribe via listserv at the same address. There is the
occassional post on someone trying to sell old stuff.
I went back and looked at my rally archives, and came up with this
from October, 1994. It is a bit stale, but it might pan out.
Regards,
Jay

SpeedPilot
Jay & Tim-
During the discussion on speedpilot values back in mid-August (my,
how time flies...), y'all expressed some interest in acquiring one.
So I'm dropping y'all a direct note first.
The general consensus was that working units are going in the
$100-$150+ range, with really exceptional ones as high as $200.
I finally got to see the unit in question, and questioned the owner
about what I saw, as it was considerably dustyer than I had been
led to believe. Turns out it's last use was many years ago. It's a
Mk. 2 model, complete with T drive, cable, book, some mounting brackets.
It shows its age, but isn't dented or otherwise beat up. I didn't open
it up (on the living room rug at a board meeting...), but suspect it
could use a cleaning inside and out. From other old gear I've seen,
I'd call this one average condition.
If y'all are interested, give the guy a call: Carl Amond at
214-277-3905 in Dallas. I think that's a work number.
Later -
Bob
