This message is a forward from the British-Cars list.. As it referred to
MGs, as a thought I've passed it on to the "experts".

Subject: various questions about a B
Hello all,
I have a couple of questions for a friend and myself over restoring a 68
MGB. First, what oil should I use in the carburettor dashpots? Castrol 20w50
was my thought...since I was told 20 weight but I am unable to find straight
20.
Also, we have been trying to clean out hte engine compartment for upcoming
-shows. The exterior is newly repainted, so all that remains is the engine.
We are planning to repaint the engine gloss black as well as the air filters.
Should we tackle the radiator as well? We thought black for all these, as
these parts are non-standard colours right now.
- Anyone have any tips on how to disconnect the hoses going to the oil
cooler? In trying to loosen the nut on the cooler end, we bent the oil
cooler's mouth, but managed to re-align. Is there a secret to loosening rusted
on nuts? What other areas should we be concerned with in making the engine
compartment presentable?
Sorry for the barrage of questions, but we're just starting. Let me know
if I'm way off on these things.
Benjy Edwards.
