Teflon tape

My garage bodies installed a new Moprod fuel pump - One joint leaks 
and I notice they used what looks like plumber's teflon tape.  Is 
this stuff alright with pertroleum?

Incidentally, the Moprod pump went sick so I sent it back uder 
guarantee to the supplier.  They said new Moprod's have metal body 
and cost more - but then sent me an SU at over $100 extra - Are SU's 
worth that money?  It certainly looks good !!!!
