foam

Has anyone tried injecting foam into rocker panel cavity for stiffening,  
soundproofing, insulating, etc.?  I've heard of it used by drag racers some  
years ago but then they had issues with the foam shrinking from the steel and  
leaving gaps that filled with water vapor and rusted.  I'm wondering if  newer 
polyurethanes have reduced shrinking  capability.
