Don't know if this helps any, but you did mention horror stories. Rick Ingram
sent this to me:
<<Attached is a photo of the 1979 MGB that was involved in the fatal accident
a couple of weekends ago in western Indiana.
Randy Hall, a NAMGBR member, was fatally injured in this accident. He was not
wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the MG...which reportedly was airborn
for almost 200 feet after impact with a semi truck/trailer at the
intersections of SR 64 and SR 234 in western Indiana. It is my guess that this
would have been a fatal accident even if he were to be wearing a seatbelt.
This was a divided highway; Randy was in the middle of the two lanes and
pulled in front of the semi. The insurance adjuster for the trucking company
contacted me last week for an opinion of the value of the MGB. Hard to say,
eh? No drugs, no alcohol, just driver error on the part of Randy. There were
no skid marks from the truck...he had no time to react.
Dave Kirkman, who was attending the Newport Hill Climb, took this (and other)
shots.
Makes one think....doesn't it.
Be safe out there.
