The subject of cooling is one I have had some experience with.  I chased
this problem on my TR3 for years.  

I did install a baffle in the front cowling to prevent warm air from
recirculating from the engine compartment.  I made the baffle out of a
large cardboard box and then sealed the edges with duct tape.  It did
help.   Originally I intended the card board to be a template for an
aluminum one but I have never had the ambition to change it.  My car
almost never gets driven in the rain so it is still intact years later.
