Well, there is always some danger fooling around w/ used gas tanks.  
Sandblasting
can produce sparks and that can be a problem.  If you've had your tank "boiled"
out, you will be in better shape but not 100%.  Better than that, run the CO2 
line
from your beer fridge to the inside of the tank while you're sandblasting it.
Lastly, you might consider ear plugs in case all the above fails.
