According to Vizard, in his book "building horsepower, Vol 2:carburators", for
any given filter surface area, a larger diameter is more important than a
larger height, and that the diameter should be x-times larger than the
throttle-body. Unfortunately, I don't remember what x is right now.
He also maintains that the SU is one of the best carbs in the world, with some
TLC. Very interesting from an American V-8 big-block motor-head. He talks
about how he approached S.U. to make improvements, and how they were reluctant
to change. He maintains that the SU can provide metering so accurate that it
is better than some fuel injection systems, while rivaling most others.
Anyone in the group using big SU's on their V-8? How is your part-throttle
response? Good acceleration?

p.s. Pardon my typing, I'm using a @$%&*# laptop keyboard!!!
