Paul:

        The only difference between the late 4 cylinder mount and the V8
mount is the stiffness of the rubber.  It's very likely that you received a
pair of 4 cylinder mounts by mistake from your supplier, hence the increased
movement.

        From the material I've accumulated, I'd suggest that an engine stay
bar would be helpful in reducing load on the engine mounts.
