| It was brought to my attention lask night that I may not have the '63 Buick
engine I thought I had so I'd like a little help id'ing it. Here is what I
know for sure:
1. I have a 4 speed T-10 that matches the numbers for the '63 Buick 4sp trans.
2. I have olds heads (not level on top) and valve covers.
3. There are only 5 bolts per cyl, but I don't recall seeing an empty bolt
hole anywhere.
4. There is a number stamped on the block/head (I don't remember) in front of
the pass. cyl. bank, but the number never matched anything in my books.
I id'd this engine based on some educated guesses, but it appears I was wrong.
Can anyone enlighten me? I'll be having a good look at the thing tonight and
can look up anything that may be relevant.
What would be wonderful is if someone can give me a sure fire way to id the
block without tearing it down, and to confirm what my heads are seperately.
This question brings about a couple of others.
What will this likely do to compression?
I bought the starter and dizzy on the assumption that this was a '63 buick, am
I in trouble now?
Thanks again

A complex system that does not work is invariably found to have
evolved from a simpler system that worked just fine.
